| Anglo-Arabians | ||
The Anglo-Arabian is a cross between the Thoroughbred and the Arabian, with no less than 25% Arabian blood. Ideally, the Anglo-Arabian has the substance of the Thoroughbred: a longer neck and shoulder (a longer "rein"), more prominent withers, and a longer hip. The stride and scope of the Arabian has been improved. From the Arabian, the Anglo-Arabian should inherit the strong legs and feet that result in increased soundness and endurance. This combination should result in a horse that is not as heavy on the forehand as the Thoroughbred, but is more forward into the bridle than the Arabian. This horse should also be easier to fit to saddle than the Arabian, have improved soundness over the Thoroughbred, and have a willing and cooperative disposition. |
